Título (el "pink slip"). Para cuando se perdió, te lo robaron o se dañó. También sirve para vender o comprar un carro cuando ya no está el título original.

REG 156

Tarjeta de registro, placas o calcomanías. Para cuando se perdieron, te las robaron, se maltrataron o ya no se pueden leer.

Si el título tenía un prestamista (por ejemplo, un préstamo del carro que ya pagaste), puede que también se necesite su liberación firmada ante notario, el formulario REG 166.

If the title had a lienholder (for example, a car loan you already paid off), you may also need their notarized release, form REG 166.

• Tu identificación con foto, vigente. Los duplicados los pide y firma el dueño registrado del carro.
• Tu número de placa y los últimos 5 números del VIN, sobre todo para reponer la tarjeta de registro.

El DMV no da placas ni calcomanías de reemplazo si el registro del carro no está al corriente. Si tu registro ya venció, primero hay que renovar; la calcomanía de reemplazo se puede sacar al mismo tiempo que la renovación.

The DMV doesn't issue replacement plates or stickers if the car's registration isn't current. If your registration expired, renew first; a replacement sticker can be issued along with the renewal.
