Eso te permite combinar: si tu trámite necesita ir en persona al DMV, por ejemplo la verificación de un carro de otro estado, cruzas la calle; si se puede resolver con un servicio de registro, lo vemos contigo en la oficina.

The City of Orange has no DMV field office. Its neighbor is Santa Ana (1330 E First Street), and our office is less than a 40-second walk from its entrance.

That lets you combine trips: if your transaction needs an in-person DMV visit, such as the verification of an out-of-state car, you just cross the street; if a registration service can handle it, we go over it with you at our office.

Si compraste un carro usado a un particular, el DMV pone plazos cortos:

• Quien compra tiene 10 días para reportar el cambio de dueño al DMV.
• Quien vende tiene 5 días para mandar el aviso de venta (REG 138).
• Necesitas el título firmado por el dueño anterior y un certificado de smog, que le toca darte a quien vende. Si el carro tiene menos de cuatro años, no hace falta el smog: quien compra paga una cuota de transferencia de smog.

If you bought a used car from a private seller, the DMV sets short deadlines:

• The buyer has 10 days to report the change of ownership to the DMV.
• The seller has 5 days to send the Notice of Transfer (REG 138).
• You need the title signed by the previous owner and a smog certificate, which the seller must give you. If the car is less than four years old, no smog check is needed: the buyer pays a smog transfer fee instead.
